You have probably heard of TiBases compatible with CEREC®, but it is not always easy to understand what they are, what advantages they offer, or what you need in order to work with them correctly.
That is why, in this article, we will try to answer the most frequently asked questions about SR TiBases and explain how to integrate them into your CAD/CAM workflows.
What is a SR Tibase?
SR TiBases incorporate a specific upper geometry developed by Dentsply Sirona for its CAD/CAM implant-supported restorations.
Unlike a conventional TiBase, the connection area with the restoration does not feature a generic cementation surface, but rather a machined interface with dimensions, geometric references and anti-rotational elements defined by the Sirona® system.
Thanks to this geometry, the software can accurately identify:
- The position of the TiBase.
- The orientation of the restoration.
- The seating depth.
- The area available for cementation.
WHY IS IT SPECIFIC TO CEREC®?
During the design process, the restoration is not modelled on a generic surface, but on this specific interface, creating an internal connection that is perfectly adapted to the TiBase.
For this reason:
- The restoration must be designed using the corresponding SR library.
- The software must recognise the geometry of the TiBase.
- The resulting restoration will only fit correctly onto a compatible SR TiBase.
In other words, the SR geometry is part of the Sirona® digital ecosystem and has been designed to work together with its libraries and CAD/CAM design workflows.
WHAT RESTORATIONS IS IT INDICATED FOR?
SR TiBases are designed for the manufacture of screw-retained single crowns within Dentsply Sirona’s CEREC® digital workflow.
